Our aim is for all our children to leave Reception Class as powerful learners, who have learned how to learn.
By the end of the Reception year, children will understand how to learn together, become aware of themselves as growing learners and be able to take responsibility for their own love of learning.
This will be achieved through ELLI, the 'Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory'. In Reception this looks like...

Wild Science Animal Visit
18th May 2022
We has such fun meeting the animals Wild Science brought in. Animals included a snake, frog, skink, guinea pig and tranatula.
Our class Post Office and trip.

We wrote letters to our most popular heroes - our mums. We then too a trip to the post Office to send our letters. We also created a Post Office in our classroom.
Maths This Term

This term we have been learning about sorting according to size, shape and features. We then looked at 2D (flat) shapes and 3D (solid) shapes. We began to look at different pattern including AB and more complex patterns. Finally we discovered odds and evens. ABC

The children were really interested in the measuring box so we all decided to measure ourselves using tapes, hands, rulers and feet.

The Three Bears snuck into our classroom in the morning and left us a present of 3 bowls of porridge: one salty, one sweet and one with honey. We then recorded our favourite onto a graph.
Our Home Corner

The children took a vote and decided on making the home corner into The Three Bears Cottage. The children then decided to design it and find all the resources themselves. They were very enthusiastic and excited. The children later decided to turn it into a reading snug.

The children independently wrote their own stories, after we changed our Dear Zoo story. They were able to following the structure and create their own characters! Well done!!

We looked into butterflies and noticed their wings were same. This led to us exploring symmetry through painting.
